Vicenza, 14 January 2008 – Campagnolo was founded in 1933 by a racer, Tullio Campagnolo. Campagnolo’s first invention, the quick release, was conceived during a race. The initial Campagnolo components were produced exclusively for professional riders. Campagnolo has competition in its DNA.
Campagnolo was founded and grew in a world of cycling races until it became a synonym for road racing. An unbreakable link joins Campagnolo to competitive cycling. Its aim has always been to create components and wheels for improving the performance of professional riders and provide them with advantages in terms of lightness, efficiency, quality and reliability for those with a passion for cycling. For this reason the dialogue between Campagnolo and the professional teams is always alive: a continuous exchange that leads to excellence levels that would be hard to achieve between the walls of a workshop or laboratory. Today, professional racers are still the best source of information and the best test laboratories. It is no coincidence that the first definitive Record Ultra-Torque crankset at the 2006 World Championships was entrusted to the powerful legs of Paolo Bettini, who was able to exploit their rigidity and smoothness features to the fullest to conquer his first rainbow jersey.

In the 2008 season Campagnolo will still be the technical sponsor of the World Champion, Paolo Bettini, and of his Quick-Step team-mates as well as of other titles Pro-Tour teams: Bouygues Telecom, Caisse d’Epargne, Cofidis, Lampre-Fondital, Liquigas and Predictor Lotto.

Campagnolo will also supply material to nine Continental teams: Acqua & Sapone, Aisan Racing Team, BMC USA, G.S. CSF Group Navigare, G.S. Tinkoff, Jelly Belly, LPR, Nippo, and Topsport-Vlaanderen.

All the bikes of the Pro-Tour and Continental teams will be fitted standard with Record groupsets, weighing 1,965 grams.

As far as wheels are concerned, Campagnolo will be the technical sponsor of Bouygues Telecom, Caisse d’Epargne and Predictor-Lotto and will equip them with Bora Ultra, Hyperon Ultra, Ghibli, Shamal Ultra and Neutron Ultra wheels.
