12-16-2006--A message from Tim Brockett ...

Friends, riders and Branford Bike customers:

Thank-you for your support of my business, Branford Bike, over the past 30 years.  Because of you I was able to move to the  wonderful state of Montana and live high up in the Rocky mountains. Tragically, a raging forest fire destroyed my home and business in July of 2006. My dreams live on though and so will a former dream, Branford Bike.

Branford Bike will reopen on February 1st, 2007

Branford Bike is rising from the ashes! The new owner is Rodd Wagner of Seattle, Washington. I am proud to announce that both the retail store and web based mail order sales divisions of Branford Bike are moving to Seattle and will reopen for business on February 1st, 2007. I, Tim Brockett, am working closely with Rodd to assure a smooth transition. Several Branford Bike employees including Lisa, Anne and Lance will continue to serve customers via the Branford Bike web site. The new retail store and warehouse will be located at 2404 10th Ave. E. in downtown Seattle, Washington, 98102. Stop by for a visit or place your order online on or after February 1st, 2007.

I decided not to rebuild Branford Bike in Montana. The insurance will only cover a little over half my total losses.  My days since the devastating fire are fully occupied with building a new home and life. Unfortunately there just is not enough time or energy left to rebuild the business and pack the orders. Rodd will bring new ideas and much needed energy  to Branford Bike. I expect the business will be better then ever in a short time. Please give him your full support and encouragement.

I am building another home on the same site as the last one. You may view our progress via the BranfordBike.com site. The complete fire story starts at:

We will install a roof by Christmas. Sometime next April or May I will finally get to go home and sleep in my own bed.  That is something I have not been able to do since July  29th and is my biggest wish for the new year.

Many riders have asked what they can do to help. There is still time to donate a used book to assist with the rebuilding effort. The fire consumed over 2,000 books; my lifetime collection. Every book was a small treasure and all are sorely missed. Many riders and readers donated a few books from their personal collections to help rebuild my library. Their gifts provided me with comfort, happiness and a sense of security. Several donated books helped with architectural and construction ideas for the new home. Others will make wonderful bedtime stories for children. Every book was carefully inscribed with the donors's name and date so we will always be reminded of their generosity. Click on the link below if you would like to donate a used book or two for our future library.

We still need about 1,925 volumes! All gifts are appreciated.

Thank-you for your support over the years and especially after the fire. Your kind words provided much needed comfort and encouragement during the most difficult time of my life. I will be forever grateful.

Please continue your support of Branford Bike and help the new owner, Rodd Wagner, make it even better then before. Pass the word to your friends and riding buddies that Branford Bike is rising from the ashes and will be open for business on February 1st, 2007. Feel free to share this e-mail with others, post it on the web or hand out copies at your next club ride.

Thanks again for your friendship, business and encouragement over the past 30 years. We have traveled far together. Our journey made me a better person, helped my dreams come true and most importantly, touched and made happier the lives of my family and friends.

Best Wishes and Merry Christmas,

Tim Brockett
