From the official Campagnolo website:
Record carbon crankset

The need to make even lighter components while maintaining or even improving performances is widely felt and this is why Campagnolo is using composite materials on an increasingly broader scale.
The cranks are a critical component both for safety and performance and the logical evolution could not but be systems in carbon fiber which, if the necessary know how is possessed, helps significantly reduce mass at the same time as increasing rigidity and fatigue strength - i.e. and component performance and longevity.
The Record cranks in composite material are certainly striking in terms of visual impact, with the famous design integrating the fifth arm into the crankarm itself - yet the most important feature is higher performance at a weight reduced by almost 140 grams.
An extraordinary product which sums up Campagnolo's philosophy: create new products which ensure superior performance and life-span thanks to new technologies while retaining all their predecessors' tried and tested features as regards safety and reliability.
Complete compatibility with the various components in the Record 10s drivetrain is assured, thus offering maximum results even when upgrading racing bicycles already "on the road".
