11 to 10spd conversion?

Postby roadrider » Fri Jul 08, 2011 11:13 am

Just wondering if this is possible. I love the new look and the way the hoods are higherand moe comfortable.
Any info will be helpful.

The only realistic way is to sell the 11-speed & buy 10-speed levers. Along with RD, cassette.

That's what I thought but didn't want to hear.
Thanks Jeff

buy a jtek engineering shiftmate, change the pulleys to 10 speed ones( you can get ceramic for ~$50), use a 10 speed chain & cassette. If you purchased a 11 speed crank, swap chainrings for 10 speed ones. Also, the rear derailleur cable needs to be a standard cable not the too stiff 11 speed cable. I been riding like this all year with no problems.

Your least expensive option to get the new hood shape while preserving the classic behavior (5 cogs smaller and able to trim the left lever in both directions) is to buy a NOS pair of 2010 Centaur 10 speed Ultrashift levers. Veloce would work as well although everyone seems to have sold them out.

2011 10 speed levers with the new shape are all Powershift which works like Escape.

2009 levers had a mid-year change to stiffer clicks and ball bearings and you don't want them because Campagnolo no longer sells Ultrashift small parts and a fix would take a new $90-$100 right lever assembly.
