wippermann connex 10 speed stainless steel chain

There have been several failures with this chain. If you have one please inspect it carefully. The chain cracks at the pin holes. I saw a chain two weeks ago that was cracked almost every fourth link. This is the second one I saw cracked this year. My chain (being used on 10 speed record carbon) seems fine with 1700 miles on it, but the ones that have broken had 600 or less miles on them. I researched the internet and found several other similar complaints.

Be careful.

I had one of these chains and my verdict was pretty quick after it stretched way out of spec in less than 600 miles, not worth the money and not much longevity at all, pretty much a waste of time.

Connex link

After talking with many Campy people, the solution seems to be using the campy C10 chain with the connex link. This gives you the superior quality campy chain with the ability for quick removal and installation. This will make cleaning MUCH easier.

Actually Eric, i found that in most cases the price of the regular C10 to be nearly twice the cost of a ShimaNO 10 chain in the stores i checked in the Miami area.
Since the Campy chain lasts about 2000 miles and the ShimaNO last about 1000 miles, to this end the verdict again was swift. I can get two shimaNOs for almost the cost of one C10 Campy, ok so i'll just change them more often, at least you are guaranteed a reaonanbly new chain will always be on your cogs keeping wear to a minimum. The wipperman link works well on both the Campy and ShimaNO chain too, at least its good for something.
