:?: I have alot of old Campy equipped bikes and still love riding them on good days.I have been maintaining them as well as I can in the hope that my son will one day be able to get as much enjoyment from them as I have(and still do!) over the years.I have been discouraged by the scarcity of replacement 144bcd chainwheels which look like the original N.R. rings.Recently I have considered having some made by a chainwheel manufacturer.They say that they need a min. order of 100 rings(per size)to consider the job. So I am considering a run of 52 and 42 road and a run of 44 in track,all in 144bcd.If they can do them cheaply enough,I will consider it. I am still waiting for a quote and hoping it will be under$25 each.If anyone out there is also interested,please let me know.I expect the rings to be so good that you will have to get up close to see if they are original or not,otherwise I am not interested.I will post again when I get a price from them.Kayar.

but clearly if you want them to look like originals close up rather than just use the cranks anyway you can then custom rings may have to be made.


Sugino Mighty Competition are almost exact repros of Record chain rings and fit the Campy crank. As matter of fact, the Mif=ghty Competition cranks are copies of the Record ones. I have a set on my Marinoni and they look and run great... the small ring is a Campy record. You can find the rings on eBay.

You could get them made and then sell them on ebay. I bet they would sell at $25 each.

I've heard of the TA rings too. I think that Branford Bike has them and they're about $50 each. So if you could undersell them......

N.R. Repro rings in the works!!!!

After months of back and forth phone calls and several misunderstandings,the N.R. repro rings are in the works! you heard it here first! When I first contacted these guys and told them I wanted chainwheels made in a 144 bcd pattern they said "You're wrong! they don't exist!" I laughed and asked this guy how old he was! He wanted to see some rings as proof so I sent them a set of my N.R. road rings in 52 and 42, and a 44 in N.R. track so they could get it right,and they still screwed up the first prototypes (incorrectly assuming I would want "ramping" on the road rings!) but that's all straight now,Sheesh!!Anyway, I just received the first unmarked prototypes and am happy to say they look and fit great!.They are exact copies machining-wise and are almost perfect in finish and color, the finish being not as highly polished but very close( and I have a request in for a more polished example) and the alloy is ever-so- slightly" yellower"than the old "atomic" but may be more durable.Also the stock they are machined from is a red c-hair thicker than the original but almost imperceptible,again maybe stiffer than the original. Overall I am thrilled and hope some other people will be too when they are available.Since I talked this guy into this deal he has since done some research and came to the same conclusion I did,that the N.O.S rings were ridiculously expensive and the others were'nt as good reproductions as these are,so we decided on an initial run of 100 each in 52 and 42 road, and ( I swear this was his idea!) 100 each in track 42,43,44,45,46,47,48,49,50,51,52 and whew!53!!! He has committed alot more money than I wanted to,and has allowed me to buy them and sell them at the same price he intends to distribute them wholesale.So if you are in the NYC area I can sell them directly to you, otherwise your local shop can get them for you at a slight up-charge.I don't have the final prices yet but will let y'all know when I do.Just shows to go ya, you can lead a horse to water,but you better be a strong and determined @@ if yer gonna drown the damn thing!!! :D

:D The N.R.repro rings are here! I have just received my chainrings and am happy to say that they are now available through any bike shop that deals with J&B importers in the U.S.A. If you are in the N.Y.C. area you can buy them directly from me for dealer cost plus tax,about $25 for the 52 and $22 for the 42. The track rings are available from shops as I am not authorized to sell those directly, in 44,46,47,48,49,50,51,52,and for the hour record-lovers out there 53!! Hope these reasonably priced rings will let some people get their Campy cranks spinning again! Enjoy!!
