Thanks very much. I wasn't aware of these bolts being available.

Croce Delta and Record Deltas don't use the same brake pads!

Postby dannyg1 » Fri Apr 08, 2005 5:58 pm

I bought Croce Deltas and then got some new Record Delta brake shoes for them (complete assemblies with the allen bolt etc) and they don't fit! Make that, they'll only fit without the tire guides and the washer. What shall I do?

Thanks,

>In what way wont they fit?<

On the Record Deltas there's a channel cut into the caliper arm that that outside, allen head, mount bolt sits. On the Croces, the arm is ground flat. The shoes need a threaded rod thats about 4mm' longer for proper mounting.

I'd never read of this difference and thought I'd make a point of it, in warning to others.

That's interesting, I wonder if Campy made the barrel bolts longer or the holder screw longer on those early Croce Deltas holders to accomodate. I wonder if you could find a similiarly threaded machine screw and shave its head down to fit the Record Delta holders for that extra reach you need. It would be a hidden part that would not be noticed, as apposed to using newer Record barrel bolts wich are longer (and noticeable as non-period). Although Ti. ones do look stealthy on Deltas LOL.

Danny, if you measure the pad holder threaded screw, I'll measure the ones I have from my Deltas. If the ones I have are longer and will work for you, you can have em. I'm doing a C-89 fit and won't be using them and as you already bought pad holders and got hosed this will hopefully get you back on the right track. The Delta shoes and holders I have are of the last gen and may have long enough screws for your app as they came with the thicker orbitals too. You'll have to measure them though, and while your at it measure the barrel bolt. Let me know and I'll get back to ya.

Cheers, Justin
