I have a Campagnolo golden anniversary gruppo complete, untouched, in its origional suitcase, with all papers, from 1984. S# 4956. Does anyone know what it may be worth today? Email: bikedoctor@msn.com

List it on ebay and put a 6000.00 reserve on it. It probably won't sell, and you can see what the bids are. I can buy a new one with lower # for $6000

I asked the campagnolo people the same question, and they said they couldn,t give me a value. They reccomended that I ask some one who has sold one. That must have been the real company, I think they are a bunch of snobs. Anyway thanks guys, that helps.

50th anniversary

Postby Campysantorini » Wed Apr 06, 2005 12:37 pm

I just completed a quick and dirty study of relative pricing of the 50th anniversary components, and would like to see if I can get some reaction from everyone. Please bear in mind that these are very rough and far from authoritative figures, extracted from various places where they are being sold as new:

Hubs with skewers 250-350
Front derailleur 100-150
Rear derailleur 125-175
Brake levers w/gum hood 150-175
Seat Post 175-200
Head set 90-110
Gear levers/changers 40-60
Calipers w/lines 175-200
Cranks with bolts 200-225
Bottom Bracket 100-150
Pedals with clips 225-275
Seat post binder ?

Hope the above is helpful! I think the mid-price of the range above would suggest that a complete set would be around $2000. The question is whether a complete set with certificate would cost more or less than individual components? What do you all think?

50th anniversary - Update

Postby campysantorini » Wed Apr 06, 2005 3:19 pm

No sooner did I post a list of prices, a pair of new pedals with clips were auction off on Ebay for a tad over $400! Goes to show, you can't easily establish prices as long as there is someone out there so passionate about owning or completing a collection.
