Locktite delta bolts?

Postby Mike Kelly » Thu Mar 31, 2005 11:30 am

I just figured out that my Deltas have a vertical adjustment, that the old Nouvo/Super record never had. It concerns me that if the brake were to slip down during operation that the front wheel could stop rather abruptly. Does anyone locktite the bolt to prevent this?

I just aseembed the bike for the first time. Never seen deltas before. I used to collect NR/SR bikes 10 years ago. I had one brake slip down and it got me concerned.

The Deltas carry a conical spacer washer onto the back of them facing the frame itself. The side facing the brakeset is serrated so as you tighten the calipers to the frame it bites into the brakeset body and stops the sliding bolt from allowing them to move up or down.
There is a non issue of them slipping up or down under normal bolt torque settings unless the bolt becomes slack and by then the brakeset would be offset to one side of the rim faces long before they actually could slip down.
Ive maintained two pairs on two of my road bikes since the late 80s and besides a pad and holder retrofit of my own design plus some SRP ti bolt kits, the brakes always work flawlessly.
Its time to ride
