I got my first Look's in 1986 and my first ShimaNO's (actually made in France by Look unless ShimaNO, much to my surprise, had a factory in France back then - but at least the pedals had "Made in France" stamped on them) in 1989.
I'm disappointed to hear the pro-fit pedals are on the way out. I used Look for years with no issues, but the Record pro-fit pedals I've been using for the last 4 years or so have bearings with much lower rolling resistance than anything else I've used. Admittedly, they're overpriced and the cleats aren't the most common item on the market, but I've had years of solid service from mine.
Well, if this happens I'm going to be sorely pissed off...
I've got four bikes, all with Campag pedals. The great thing about Pro-fits is they grip tighter, the harder you pull up. I've pulled my foot out on the banking at Newport using LOOK pedals -- not an experience I want to repeat any time soon, thank you.
Even if they do discontinue the pedals, they'll keep making the cleats as a replacement part...won't they?
