Downtube shifters?

Before I do something drastic like jump off a cliff or mount fishing gear to my bike, is there any way to run Campy 10 with downtube shifters. Preferably friction ones. And I hope for any way short of gutting a 180 dollar bar end shifter and modifying with the $50 kit . I've just bought an 80's funny bike TT frame and would like to build up an old-style-modern-function bike. I like to have compatibility in my garage so its either Campy 10 or the other one 9 speed that is compatible with the mtb and commuter.

Save my bike, tell me how to keep it Campy only.
