Identifying Chorus shifters & proper cables

Postby rbrnut » Tue Nov 15, 2011 9:08 pm

I picked up a set of Chorus brifters for a 'cross bike I am building. This is my first major attempt with the wrenches so bear with me. I started installing the cables, but the derailleur cable head didn't seem to fit right and catch with the shifter ratchet mechanism. So after searching around for some time, looks like I was sent the wrong cables. The cable box is marked CG-ER500 on a removable label which would be for non-Ultra-Shift, which I think is what I want? However the cable box clearly says "for Ultra-Shift ErgoPower...." . So looks the box was labelled incorrectly.

The pictures of the brifters are attached. Can anyone help me identify roughly which Chorus levers I have and which cable set I would need? I am assuming they are non-Ultra-Shift.. Thanks!

you have the right cables. they are the same across the range of shifters (please no B word) pre-2009. you do know the difference between brake & derailleur cables - right?
