Is it possible to rebuild a 2011 Veloce Front Shifter?

Postby idoru2010 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:27 pm

I have a set of 2011 Veloce shifters. I have been experiencing problems lately: while in the largest chainring, even the slightest pressure on the thumb button will downshift the chain into the middle ring (of a triple). It takes more firm pressure on the button to change from middle to smallest ring. So the main problem was problematic shifting from large to the middle ring. The thumb button had "hair trigger" sensitivity.

So as I was playing around with cable tension to see if I could fix the issue, the lever was in a "state" where it was not moving AT ALL while I was on the middle ring. I put a bit more pressure on the lever to see if I could get the FD to move, then all of a sudden, something "snapped" or "popped" inside the shifter and the lever now swings freely without any clicks and without moving the cable. Its as if the the part within the shifter that grabs the cable end, no longer has any grip on the cable end.

I know Campagnolo shifters are rebuildable, but are these Veloce shifters (lowest end model) also rebuildable? If so, does anyone know the part number for the rebuild kit for my model?

Thanks in advance!

For what its worth, Bicycle Discover in Fountain Valley was able to rebuild my Left Veloce shifter. No rebuild kit was necessary, so I can't comment on whether any of the rebuild kits work with this model of shifter...
