crank axle length

Hi. I'm new to this forum so my question may already have been answered by somebody's post ages ago. Please bear with me in that case.

The question: I have a triple Veloce crankset and a (Veloce) 9 sp. set-up.
I'm may have to change the crankset in the near future. I don't want a complete overhaul to 10sp if I can avoid it.
Can I use, say, a Record or Chorus crank axle length of 111mm when the seat tube on my bike is 32mm?
