8sp to newer 9/10/11sp?

I'm fairly new to Campy stuff and am looking at a Record 8sp group but know that 9sp and up is easier to convert. My question is how easy is it to convert a full 8sp group w/ wheels to work with newer 9/10 or even 11sp?

What would I need and is it a large and unworthy undertaking?

i think the only way to do this is to buy a new group! hub splining, cog spacing, lever incompatibility, chainring spacing, all different.
