Lub the Record Hubs???

Postby Dave » Tue May 31, 2005 6:09 am

Did somebody know how to lub the record hubs by the lub port??? I just got a campy lubrificante grasso.10-N in LBS , a soft white cream in a plastic square box. I make it a mess when I use a syringe and a needle, hope someone can help :(

In Eddie B's book on racing he talks about setting up your bike for special events like time trials and he says to remove all grease, remove one bearing per hub side, and then using oil as the lube!

This was in the days before cartridge bearings were popular.

What he reccomended was pulling one ball of 9 or 1 of 10 on each side of your hub.

I know trackies who, on Nuovo Record hubs, would remove the pressed in dust caps, remove a ball per side, and lubricate with table wax.
Spin slowly and hear each ball tinkle as it fell.....
