Hey Opus, you forgot to mention that for once in as long as i can remember ShimaNO D/A 10 is now more money than Campy Record.

Its sacriledge and its the disgusting truth and i'm going to be hammered into the ground for it on this forum BUT here it is.
The ShimaNO Dura Ace 10 speed chain shifts BETTER than the Campy C10 when i did a head to head comparision test on my Record equipped bike.
So why is this???? well its an easy assessment to see why and its nothing to do with the fact the chain is a ShimaNO product.
The main contributing factor here is the width of the chain, being that its a shade narrower, the jockey pulleys move it sooner on the shift and this in turn causes it to ramp that much quicker onto the next cog and this is the only REASON it shifts better.
I'd therefore like to see Campy think about narrowing up the C10 to the width of the D/A 10 to improve its shifting performance.
As for durabilty, the D/A chain only lasts a pathetic 1000 to 1200 miles if you are lucky, and also stay away from serious hills. In comparison to this, the Campy C10 gives on average about 2000 to 2500 miles, but thats pushing its durabilty to the limit here as well, however its still twice as long a life as the D/A 10.

In reply to Opus with ShimaNO only offering 10 in D/A and a soon to be Ultegra 10 for '05, you have to remember that ShimaNO were quite happy to stick with 9speed for a few more months maybe even another year at least. However it was really Campy that pushed for 10speed soon after their own version of 9speed came out, all in the name of having a technical edge if you wish to call it that.
Some of you may chide me for this, but i was just patient and stayed with my 8 speed and waited for the ten to be made, so looking at nine speed was to me just a temporary patch in the design war by both Campy and ShimaNO. In a few years, probably by the end of'06, 9speed will be but a distant memory for shimaNOs three top gruppos, and Campy may still have at least one or two 9 speed options in their lower rank gruppos. Such is the passage of time,in less than 20 years we have all seen the rear cluster go from five cogs to ten, whats next :?:

A few folks I ride with around here have the 10-spd. At least two of them have never gotten them to shift satisfactorily.
