| My friend, Ron Lew, and I tackled the
second half of the Terrible Two course as an unsupported ride (well,
almost) on June 7th, three weeks ahead of the event. We enjoyed great
temperatures (80s), better pavement than we expected, and had a most
enjoyable ride (143 miles, 9,500 feet of elevation gain). At the finish,
we were sobered by the thought that the "full" ride would be
60 miles longer, with almost 7,000 feet more climbing . . .
