Q:  Can I use the new 13-28 Voloce cassette that is not an MK2 type on my record hub?
C-O:  You can use Veloce cogset on your Record hub. A MKII cogset just means that the cogs are mounted on an aluminum carrier. They both have the same splines.

Q:  I would like to convert a Mavic 7 speed freehub to work on my new bike which is Campy 8 speed.  What are my options to use this wheel? Must I rebuild the wheel with a new hub?  Will a 8 speed work on this hub?
C-O:  If the spacing of the 7 speed freehub is the same as the Campagnolo 8 speed system, you can use the 7 speed hub and block out that last cog with the adjuster screw. I have done it with an old freewheel type hub and my 8 speed system, worked fine.

Q:  How many sensors does the new Ergo Brain computer use and where are they mounted?  Does it work with the standard Chorus group, or do you require different shifters?  What do you think about it?
C-O:  If I remember correctly there were 2 sensors, one for the wheel and one for cadence. There are 2 contact switches that go to the Ergopowers that control the mode selections. It will fit the 99 Ergopower that have the " mode " buttons that are above the thumb levers. From  the prototypes that I saw for the show and from the information I was told it looks like it is going to be a very nice computer.

Q:  I'm presently restoring a 1974 vintage Atala with Reynolds 531 Frame.  I rode this bike from Canada to Mexico solo along the Continental Divide.  I'm restoring the frame and totally upgrading all of the components.  I'd like to do it all Campy.  What would you recommend for a long distance touring machine.  Specifically, I want a triple front crank, and large capacity rear derailleur.  Does Campy make bar-end shifters?
C-O:  Depends on if you want to keep it in the year era. Being that year it may be difficult to modify the frame to accept a 9 speed system. If you can I would go with the Racing Triple kit. You can get a bar end but I would switch to Ergopower ( personally ).

Q:  I was wondering how "dual pivot brakes" are an improvement over the Shimano brakes on my bike which are not a dual pivot design? Can I easily change my Shimano brakes, these being entry level quality only, on my road bike for Campy( Veloce or Daytona) brakes?
C-O:  Well, the way the design of the dual pivot brake is it's a smoother and easier brake to modulate. Pretty much with the ratios of the pull it's a much lighter tough and more powerful brake. You shouldn't have a problem using the Campagnolo brakes with the Shimano levers, I've done it before with no problem.

Q:  In trying to research recent older campy equipment I came across a question that I cannot answer. What is the origin of the name of C Record? All of the literature refers to the top of the line as Record. Where did the C come from?
C-O:  If I remember correctly the " C" in C Record was simply Campagnolo. It was a way to tell the difference in name for the " New " Record group that was coming out. That's the way I remember it.
